When we told our friends Joe and Katharine about our whirl wind trip to the Southwest. They said, well you have to go past Little Rock to get back to Brunswick. You should stop and see us; we’ll have lots of fun things to do. And we did; small aircraft ride, picturesque Eureka Springs, target practice, and smoker cooking.
Joe flew us , in his four seater Beachcraft plane, from Little Rock to Eureka Springs -So cool! – where we stayed at The Brownstone Inn.
Shopping in town was good exercise the streets run up and down hill. But really cute shops. At the top of one of the hills is a hotel built in the late 1800s with a checker past that is reputedly haunted. I thought the reception area was pretty vintage.
When we returned from Eureka Springs, Joe and Randy went to a flying event in Joe’s 2 seater. ( I got a ride later on and loved it!)
The next day, we also borrowed a Harley and went for quick ride around Little Rock. I’m happy to report, Randy is still a good and safe motorcyclist and I’m still a good passenger . After dinner on the patio, Joe and Katharine set up a target and we did some sharp shooting. The only time I ever actually shot a gun, I was about 17 and just about knocked myself over. This time, with some couching from the other three, I hit the target several times!
I believe, Joe’s goal was to make sure we packed as much new and fun experiences as possible into the few days that we were there. Goal accomplished!
